The Story.

So since we have our first ever performance as a Team coming up this weekend. I just thought it would be appropriate to make a little story blog of how we first started to where we are now since a lot of people really don’t know. No, GOCD did not just start up out of no where. There’s a lot of things that went down for us to finally come together. So here we go….

The Beginning:

In May of 2010, three friends who have just started becoming close performed at a local youth rally. These three (Ramil Caragay, Alex Morte, Ryan Baclayo) have just discovered the hidden talents of one another. Many people like they’re performance and so we started a band called RAR (Ramil Alex Ryan). Ramil played guitar, Alex did the singing, and Ryan did the beat boxing and the rapping.

The start of a new band:

A few months later, in December of 2010, Ryan and Alex called up Ramil and told him that they wanted a new name for their band. After constant hours on the phone thinking of many possible names, Alex suggested a name that really came to heart, Gentlemen of Devotion or G.O.D. This name really got to us because it really did describe who we were. We were gentlemen cause we were kind people who cared about the people who support us and we are devoted cause we are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish our goal and reach our dream.

The Youtube Game Starts Up:

The day before we finally met up again as a band, Ramil had an idea of finally make a youtube exclusively for G.O.D. He then told the other members and they firmly agreed and so started their Youtube game. The day after they recorded their first ever video. They did a remix/cover of Rocketeer by Far East Movement. With Ryan rapping, Ramil playing guitar and singing, Alex singing, and their friend RJ playing percussion. This whole cover was made mostly for fun, but little did they know this would be the start of something special.

The Start of a New Era:

At a retreat called YLSS hosted by the BLD Trenton Covenant Community, the 3 joined up again after not seeing each other for a long time. The previous week, they saw a concert in New York featuring D-Pryde, Traphik, Lil Crazed, Erika David, and more. Watching this concert inspired them to work harder and keep making music so they could one day be on stage with all of those artists. That is still their dream today. But anyways, at YLSS, the G.O.D. gang (Ramil, Ryan, Alex) had a group hug to represent a family then their best friend Christopher Nick randomly snuck in and joined the hug. Ryan and Ramil started joking around saying GOCD! It was nothing but a mere joke until things happened…

The Start of Something Different:

Months after YLSS, the whole GOCD idea grew from more than a little joke that they made to signify their friendship, to something even bigger than anyone expected. Ramil and Ryan had a serious conversation in the car about where G.O.D. would go next. Ryan then suggested that they finally just change the group name from G.O.D. to GOCD. Ramil then agreed and so begun the era of GOCD. GOCD was even better though, since G.O.D. in some people’s eyes was the same as God and therefore many people were against them. At first GOCD was an odd idea in our heads, two singers, a bboy, and a rapper? But that’s what makes us who we are. We’re not your average boy band. We’re something way different from everyone else. And we loved being different.

The Addition of a Cameraman/Actor:

During Summer of 2011, Ian Dizon who was a close friend of all the members of GOCD, was asked to join GOCD. Ian is now the cameraman/actor of GOCD. The addition of Ian makes GOCD an even more diverse and unique concept. But we enjoyed being something that has never been seen before. During this summer, these 5 brothers had many sleepovers and hangouts, and they would make many Vlogs and Videos. These 5 brothers have gotten so close throughout the Summer. They have built a bond with each other than can never be broken.

GOCD Now:

Now, GOCD has become more than just a Music Group, but a family. With the addition of another one of their close friends, Sam Delara and the addition of one of their beautiful lady friends, Angela Caballero, GOCD has become a huge part of their local community. GOCD is a team that does whatever it takes to aaccomplish their goals and to reach the top. GOCD has a lot of history as you all see, but don’t think we’re done yet. We’re just getting started. The first of our many goals has finally been reached, to finally perform in a live Filipino Event. This dream will become a reality tomorrow. It’s just right to look back at the past and to recognize who’ve we become. We have gone a very long way and we do not plan on stopping. COME AND STOP US!

Four years ago, I was a shy/awkward freshman walking thru the doors with my long scrubby jbieber hair, shirt tucked in, and pants to my bellybutton…and now four years later, I’ve grown up to be someone my parents could be proud of.
So this is for you mom and dad, thanks for busting your ass to send me to Catholic School for 12 years. I promise to grow up to be successful and one day raise successful kids the same way you raised Ate and me.

so handsome <3
